Brenden Rice: Chargers Select Trojans Wideout in Seventh Round
Former USC Star Stays in Los Angeles
NFL Draft News and Analysis
The Los Angeles Chargers have bolstered their wide receiver corps with the selection of Brenden Rice in the seventh round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Rice, a former standout for the USC Trojans, was taken with the No. 225 overall pick.
The son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, Brenden has proven to be a talented pass-catcher in his own right. As a Trojan, he caught 80 passes for 1,112 yards and eight touchdowns in three seasons. His athleticism and route-running ability have been highly praised by scouts.
By selecting Rice, the Chargers add a young and promising receiver to their offense. He will join a wide receiver group that includes Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Joshua Palmer. Rice's versatility and ability to play both inside and outside should provide the Chargers with a valuable weapon in the passing game.
