Luton Town secure late win against Sheffield United
Luton Town moved up to third in the Championship table with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Sheffield United at Kenilworth Road on Saturday afternoon.
Substitute Carlton Morris scored a stoppage-time winner to secure all three points for the hosts, who had trailed to a first-half goal from James McAtee. Harry Cornick had earlier levelled for Luton, who are now unbeaten in their last four league games.
Sheffield United started the brighter of the two sides and took the lead in the 20th minute when McAtee fired home from close range after being teed up by Oli McBurnie. Luton responded well to going behind and equalised just seven minutes later through Cornick, who converted from the spot after being fouled by Anel Ahmedhodzic.
The second half was a more even affair, with both sides having chances to win it. Luton came closest to breaking the deadlock when Elijah Adebayo hit the post in the 75th minute, but it was Sheffield United who looked the more likely winners as the game entered the closing stages.
However, Luton had the final say when Morris headed home from close range in the first minute of stoppage time to spark wild celebrations among the home fans. The win moves Luton up to third in the Championship table, level on points with second-placed Burnley, while Sheffield United remain in 11th.
